Attendance Details
Carlisle Borough Council will convene a Council Workshop Meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.  This meeting shall be conducted both in-person and virtually using Zoom. Town Hall will be limited to 25 persons that wish to attend the meeting in person.  Those that are still practicing social distancing and would like to attend by way of Zoom, please email the Borough Secretary, Joyce Stone (jstone@carlislepa.org).  All emails must be received by Wednesday, November 4, 2020 by 4:00 pm for the Zoom sign-in registration information that is required to attend this meeting.

Persons requiring special accommodations should contact the Assistant Borough Manager at 717-240-6921, 48 hours prior to the public meeting.  Telecommunications device for the deaf (TTY) users may contact this number by using the Pennsylvania Relay System at 800-654-5894.

Prior to the Council meeting, Borough citizens may submit questions or comments by email to the Borough Secretary, Joyce Stone (jstone@carlislepa.org).  All emails must be received by 4:00 pm on November 4, 2020.

The Borough will also offer a livestream of the Workshop meeting via Facebook for interested parties. We encourage those participants who simply want to watch the meeting without participating in public comment to view it on Facebook, rather than calling into the Zoom meeting. The public comments on the Facebook stream will not be monitored during the Council Meeting.

Mayor's Report:

A. Lincoln Cemetery Resolution: The proposed resolution acknowledges Borough Council's role in past discrimination and racial bias in the community. You can read the resolution here.

B. Wardecker Mayoral Proclamation: This proclamation will recognize the end of an era for Wardecker's Menswear Store and declare November 4 as "Fred Wardecker Day." The business was first established in 1901 as Blumenthal's Menswear and has been a downtown staple until its recent closure.

C. Warm Handoff Letter of Support: The Cumberland County Police Warm Handoff Program would utilize Certified Recovery Specialists from JFT Recovery & Veterans Support Services to carry our follow-up warm handoff visits with non-violent individuals we encounter who have opioid use or stimulant use disorders.

Public Safety Committee:
A. Decriminalization of Cannabis Discussion: Discussion continues on the possible decriminalization of cannabis in the Borough of Carlisle. A draft ordinance can be found on our Borough Ordinances Page. Please note that Borough Council has not yet taken action to formally advertise or vote on this ordinance.
