The Borough of Carlisle is seeking motivated men and women to apply for the position of police officer. The physical fitness test and written exam will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Police CarThe Carlisle Borough Police Department is committed to community policing and maintaining a high quality of life throughout the Borough. The department has 33 sworn officers and 3 civilian staff serving a community with a population of approximately 20,000.

DUTIES OF A CARLISLE BOROUGH POLICE OFFICER

Duties include investigating crimes; enforcing state and local traffic laws; investigating accidents; preparing reports; taking appropriate actions including but not limited to arresting subjects, interviewing witnesses/victims, collecting evidence, and preparing cases for court. Opportunities include patrol, investigations, K-9, participation in County SWAT team, DOT inspections, and bike patrol. Patrol officers work a rotating shift that may include 8-12 hour shifts.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Annual base salary: $62,524.80 to start.

Benefits include: medical insurance for employees and dependents; paid dental, vision, life, and long-term disability; 50% retirement after 25 years at age 50; 12 sick days; 11 holidays; 6 personal days; longevity pay after 7 years;  Annual uniform allowance; and educational reimbursement.

Police testREQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be at least 21 at the time of testing, a United States citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and a clean criminal record. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Although not required, applicants with Act 120 training are encouraged to apply.

TESTING

Testing will take place on Sunday, October 31, at 8:00 AM at the Carlisle High School Track, 623 West Penn Street, Carlisle. The physical fitness portion will be held first, followed by the written portion.

PHYSICAL FITNESS STANDARDS

300 Meter Run – 70.1 seconds
Push-ups – 24 correct repetitions (1 minute)
Sit-ups – 28 correct repetitions (1 minute)
1.5 mile run – 15 minutes, 56 seconds
