Effective September 1: Parking Garage to Resume Collection of Hourly Rate and Lease Payments
Gold, Long-Term Meters Remain Free Until Further Notice

Beginning Tuesday, September 1, 2020, the Borough of Carlisle will resume collection of the hourly rate and lease payments for the Pomfret Street Parking Garage. The parking garage has been free since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Public and private employers have ramped up operations over the last several months and the demand for parking is returning to normal.

Downtown parkers who patronize the garage will be required to pay the rate of $.75 per hour with a maximum rate of $6 for the entire day. The garage is a cash only facility and parkers should be prepared with cash when exiting. The parking garage is located at 35 W. Pomfret Street.

Downtown parkers should continue to feed the silver meters during the specified days and hours noted below*, or risk receiving a parking violation. These short-term meters are located approximately within a two-block area of the Square, in Borough lots, and are designed for those patronizing or conducting business within the downtown for periods of two hours or less. The silver meters accept various options of payment including coins, credit cards, and the Passport Parking App. Please be aware of the meters covered with red bags, a strategy that was implemented to assist downtown merchants. Reserved specifically for downtown merchants during and post COVID-19, these bagged meters provide curbside pickup and drop-off opportunities for patrons of those businesses. Please avoid parking at these meters unless you are patronizing the business.

Parking at the gold, long-term meters will continue to be free of charge until further notice. These meters are primarily located on secondary streets such as Bedford, Pitt, Pomfret, Louther, and North Streets.

*Parking Meter Enforcement: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Metered parking is free on weekends and Borough holidays.
