The owners of Mountz Jewelers made a generous donation to the Carlisle Borough Police Department's K-9 program this week. Thank you to all the individuals and groups who have donated so far to help the department expand its K-9 program.
This new dog will not be a patrol dog, like our other K-9 Chaos is. The new dog will be trained as an explosives detection K-9 and be socialized to interact with the community, including children.
The addition of a second K-9 is not coming from the Borough's annual budget. The family of former Sergeant Simon Jackson, who passed away in 2019, donated the money needed to purchase the animal. The plan is to name the dog Jackson in honor of the late officer. Another donor has offered to pay for a new vehicle. The department is fundraising for the remainder of the costs. If you or your organization are interested in donating, contact the Police Department at 717-243-5252.
