Proposed 2022 Budget Unveiled
The 2022 General Fund Budget includes an operating deficit, but staff recommends using reserves to close the budget gap rather than a tax increase.
The 2022 budget includes proposed increases to water and sewer rates in line with a 2018 rate study that examined operation and maintenance costs. The proposed water rate increase is 3.48% and the sewer increase is 3.37%. According to the EPA, a typical person uses approximately 7,920 gallons per quarter. Using this information, a single user could expect to see a $2 increase per quarter for water and a $2 increase per quarter for sewer. A family of four could expect a $9 increase per quarter for water and an $11 increase per quarter for sewer.
#DidYouKnow that out of 14 Cumberland County municipalities, our combined water/sewer rates are the fifth-lowest!
The 2022 budget proposed no rate increases for parking, stormwater, and trash bags.
Borough Council may consider adopting the budget at a public hearing on December 9 at 6:45 p.m.
