Fort LeTort Fundraiser Kick-Off

On Wednesday, April 27, the Carlisle Kiwanis Club kicked off their Fort LeTort fundraising campaign at LeTort Park. The organization is rebuilding the Fort LeTort playground for its 100th Anniversary project.Kiwanis Member Speaking at Podium

Fort LeTort, a wooden playground, was installed in 1993. In 2019, the Kiwanis Club funded a safety audit to determine the best way to refurbish it. After reviewing the results, the club decided that rebuilding Fort LeTort made the most sense. The club worked with local playground design firm George Ely Associates to design the new structure. They presented the designs to the PPresentation of check from Mark L Butler Foundationarks and Recreation Board and Borough Council, with Council approving the design at their April 2022 meeting. You can view the playground designs here.

Fundraising is the next step for the Kiwanis Club. At Wednesday's event, the group accepted a $100,000 donation from Brooke Butler-Wagner of the Mark L. Butler Foundation. Visit www.fortletort.com to learn more about the project.

**The commemorative fence pickets from the original Fort LeTort will be available for pick-up prior to demolition in April of 2023. More information will be provided as we get close to the demolition date.***
