Carlisle Borough Named one of 10Best's Best Historic Small Towns
Carlisle Borough is proud to announce it has been named No. 4 Best Historic Small Town in the country in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice 2022!
The annual USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards feature the top 20 nominees in various travel and lifestyle categories. The nominees for the competition were chosen by a panel of relevant experts, including a combination of editors from USA Today; editors from 10best.com; and relevant expert contributors. The public then voted for their choice over a four-week period. Thanks to the Carlisle community, the Borough remained in the top five during the month-long voting window. The contest was shared on the Borough’s social media channels and also shared by our partners and stakeholders, including the Downtown Carlisle Association, Dickinson College, and the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau.

Carlisle is known for its rich history that among others includes a large historic district listed in the National Register of Historic Places, its charming downtown where visitors can catch a glimpse of the intricate architectural details on well-preserved buildings, dignitaries, and the Cumberland County Historical Society, which houses an award-winning museum of local history spanning 250 years.
Carlisle Borough was also recently named a Platinum-Level Sustainable Pennsylvania Community by the Pennsylvania Municipal League and an All-America City by the National Civic League.
