"Stars Burst Over Carlisle" Canceled for 2023

The Borough of Carlisle has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual “Stars Burst Over Carlisle” 4th of July fireworks show for 2023.

“Although we understand many in the community have enjoyed this event, unfortunately, the resources are not available this year to organize the annual fireworks show in Carlisle,” Mayor Shultz said.

Mayor Shultz hopes the community will come together to reimagine “Stars Burst Over Carlisle” in 2024 along with community partners. “I look forward to working creatively with residents and community partners to make the event even better when it returns. The goals should be to enhance the connection to Carlisle’s place in historic events at the founding of our country and during the Civil War, and to integrate Summerfair and the Downtown. We will take this year off to create a new vision to celebrate Carlisle and what makes our American democratic republic so special.”

While there will be no fireworks in 2023, Carlisle Summerfair will still take place from June 23 to July 3. The community-wide celebration begins Friday, June 23 at 5:00 p.m. with free ice cream on the Dickinson Campus. The annual event includes concerts, open pool nights, a craft fair, a 5K walk/run, and a peanut carnival. The event is family-friendly, and the majority of activities are free.
