Fireworks Return for 2024

“Stars Burst Over Carlisle” Fireworks Show Launches July 3
Borough Still Seeking to Close Funding Gap

“Stars Burst Over Carlisle,” the Borough’s annual live fireworks show, returns to the Carlisle Fairgrounds after a one-year hiatus. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, with a rain date of Saturday, July 6. The gates to the Fairgrounds will open at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free of charge. A DJ will provide entertainment starting at 7:00 p.m. and concession stands will be selling food and drinks. Launched from the highest spot at the Carlisle Fairgrounds at approximately 9:30 p.m., the fireworks can be seen from nearby streets, parks, and backyards.

To help make this event happen, Councilor Cate Mellen is leading a fundraising effort with the goal of raising approximately $25,000 through corporate sponsorships. “We strive to fund the annual fireworks event without the use of taxpayer dollars, so each year the mayor or council needs to seek support from local businesses and organizations to help make the event happen,” Mellen said. “This year, the community owes a great deal of thanks to The Fraternal Order of Elks, who have stepped up as the premiere sponsor of the 2024 Stars Burst over Carlisle fireworks show.”

Recognizing the importance of this event to our region and the many families who have traditionally enjoyed the celebration, the Elks approached the Borough with its significant offer of monetary assistance. “The Elks’ gracious sponsorship was the catalyst for setting the fundraising campaign in motion. Additionally, we want to thank Carlisle Events for once again letting us host the fireworks celebrations at the Carlisle Fairgrounds free of charge,” Mellen added, “as well as North Middleton Township, our good friends to the north, for their continued financial & logistical support.”

Sponsorships and donations are still being accepted to help close a funding gap of approximately $6,000.  Councilor Mellen hopes that local businesses and organizations that see the value in this event will support the campaign.
