PennDOT Announces Extensive Patching Project on I-81 in Cumberland County

Today, PennDOT announced an extensive two-month patching project along northbound and southbound Interstate 81 in Cumberland County.

PennDOT crews will begin working on the northbound lanes of I-81 between Exit 52 (New Kingston/Middlesex) and Exit 57 (Mechanicsburg), as well as the southbound lanes from the Susquehanna River toward Exit 61 (Wertzville Road). After that section is finished, crews will head to the southbound lanes from Exit 37 (Newville) to the Cumberland/Franklin line. Crews will also be patching several exit and entrance ramps in the area. The project is scheduled to continue through August.

Crews will be working on I-81 Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be advance signage notifying drivers of lane closures. Slow down and use caution in work zones. Congestion and delays are possible, so allow extra time or consider an alternate route. You can check ahead on road conditions by visitingĀ www.511PA.com.
