The Borough wishes to share the following link of a documentary that was created by a Dickinson College student as part of a research and documentary class.  This documentary, along with others, was first screened to the public in December 2018 and is now available via YouTube.

The video is just one example of the work that has been, or is currently being, undertaken by those featured in the video, as well as others, to tell the untold/forgotten story of Lincoln Cemetery’s history and evolution to what is now known as Memorial Park.

A working group comprised of Jordan descendants (featured in the film); the U.S. Army War College; Hope Station; and, Borough elected officials and staff was formed in fall 2018 to partner and advance the research work of the Cumberland County Historical Society. Moreover, to explore potential improvements – one being, paying homage to the past through the rededication of this site as a sacred place of reflection and creating an opportunity for truth, racial healing and transformation.

Anyone having an interest in joining the working group, or participating in an upcoming community outreach meeting, is encouraged to contact the Borough Manager’s Office or Parks and Recreation at 717-249-4422 or 717-243-3318 respectively.

Look for future announcements and events planned for May 2019 and beyond.
