FEMA will be hosting an open house for Cumberland County residents and stakeholders to review and discuss the Preliminary Flood Rate Insurance Maps (FIRMS).
Staff from FEMA will be present to discuss the map preparation process, insurance implications, and explain how residents can appeal new floodplain boundaries that they believe may be incorrect. County Planning staff will also be on hand to assist residents in viewing FIRM maps and the location of floodplain boundaries for specific properties.
The meeting will be a open house style and residents can stop by at any time between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM to meet with FEMA and County staff to speak specifically about their properties. Insurance specialists will also be on hand to discuss flood insurance implications of the new maps. Note that the formal public appeal period will not start until the spring of 2020, so residents will have plenty of time to determine if they want to appeal the draft maps and if so prepare necessary studies.
The open house will be held on the evening of November 6, 2019. Residents can arrive any time between 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The open house will be located at 310 Allen Road (Conference Room B).
