Compost Facility Shed

Spring/summer hours of operation are Wednesday, March 25 through Saturday, August 29.

  • Wednesday: Noon to 8:00 PM
  • Thursday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Fall hours will begin on Wednesday, September 2 and run through Saturday, December 12 as follows:
  • Wednesday:  9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Thursday:  7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Saturday:  7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

The Compost Facility is closed on all Federal Holidays.

Rules for Facility Use: Carlisle Borough residents (I.D. required) are permitted to use this facility to dispose of leaf and/or brush waste which is generated from Borough properties.  Other yard waste such as grass, tree stumps, and tree waste that is larger than 12 inches in diameter is strictly prohibited. Construction waste is also prohibited.

PLEASE NOTE:  Starting in 2017, contractors (i.e., building and yard maintenance establishments, landscapers, etc.), commercial, or institutional facilities will be allowed use of the facility for yard waste disposal after registering with the Borough and payment of an annual user fee.  An application must be completed and payment made at the Borough Municipal Building prior to a commercial or institutional vehicle arriving at the Compost Facility. The vehicle must display a valid sticker issued by the Borough for use of the site. The compost site is located on Post Road off of Route 11 at the North end of Carlisle.
