2024 Budget Passes

Borough Council approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget on Thursday, December 14.

The budget includes an increase in the Fire Services Tax of 0.315 mills. The Borough's two-tiered tax structure includes a General Purposes Tax and a Fire Services Tax. The General Purposes Tax helps fund general government, police, fire, streets, traffic signage/signalization, lighting, code enforcement, parks and recreation, and other Borough services, while the Fire Services Tax helps fund a portion of our volunteer fire departments' needs. The General Purposes Mill Rate remains 3.058.

Maintaining the Fire Service Tax at a millage of 0.437 would result in a budget gap of $1,008,289. That gap would need to be closed through General Purpose Tax funds that would otherwise go to other General Fund needs.

With the increase in the Fire Services Tax, the average residential property (assessed value of $180,000) will see an increase in Borough taxes of $56.70 in 2024.

There are no changes to Water, Sewer, Stormwater, or Parking in 2024. Trash and recycling rates are increasing to match the amounts charged by the vendor as part of our 2023-2025 contract. The quarterly rate for 2024 is $80.25 (up from $75), and the Trash Tag Rate is $7.92 (up from $6.92).
